    Shanties Festival in Krakow (25.02 – 28.02)
    There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that it is the Krakow “Shanties Festival” which shapes the nautical song and poetry movement in Poland and inspires the other sailor and shanties interest groups. This year it will take place between 25th and 28th of February at the “Rotunda” Student Club.

    PAKA 2010 Cabaret Review (14.04 – 18.04)
    PAKA is one of the oldest, and definitely the most prestigious cabaret review in Poland (it has been taking place annually since 1985). Who have been the winners of this competition on Rotunda’s stage? To name just a few: Ani Mru Mru, Kabaret Moralnego Niepokoju, Kabaret Neo-nówka, Kabaret Łowcy.B, Tomasz Jachimek, Kabaret Limo, Kabaret Młodych Panów.

    Off Camera 2010 (16.04 - 25.04)
    This is the first large format event dedicated to Polish and foreign independent cinema.
    To pierwszy w Polsce wielkoformatowy festiwal poświęcony polskiemu i zagranicznemu kinu niezależnemu. Off Camera, ater its debut In October 2008, it was recognised as a major European event in that year: the five day event employed the use of 300 invited guests and nearly 20 000 other participants. The festival was given 100 000 Euro by the Krakow Film Award. This sum is likely the highest financial award received In the film industry.

    Krakowskie Reminiscencje Teatralne (22.04 - 25.04)
    Preparations for the 35th jubilee edition of Cracow Theatrical Reminiscences have already started at full speed. It will take place from the 22nd till 25th of April 2010.     Cracovia Maraton 2010 (25.04)
    Cracovia Maraton to od 2002 roku coroczny maraton, który wraz z towarzyszącymi innymi imprezami sportowymi (np. Mistrzostwami Świata parlamentarzystów w biegu maratońskim, "Mini Maratonem") odbywa się z reguły w pierwszej dekadzie maja w Krakowie. Trasa maratonu, którego hasłem jest z historią w tle przebiega przez najciekawsze miejsca w mieście. Głównym organizatorem imprezy jest Miasto Kraków. Patronem sportowym Cracovia Maraton jest obecnie Robert Korzeniowski.

    Krakowski Festiwal Filmowy (31.05 - 6.06)
    Krakow Film Festival is one of the oldest film event dedicated to documentary, animated and short fiction films in Europe. Festival is accompanied by exhibitions, concerts, open air screenings and meetings with the filmmakers.

    20th Jewish Cultural Festiwal
    June 26th - July 4th, 2010
    One of the largest and most important events of this type in the world. During the nine days of the festival, Krakow’s district of Kazimierz resounds with synagogue singing, Jewish music from all over the world: Chasidic, Klezmer, Sephradic and classical. The festival also hosts film and theatrical shows, exhibitions and an extensive program of workshops and lectures. Jewish Culture Festival in Kraków presents contemporary Jewish culture of the Diaspora and Israel. But the Festival is not only a
    cultural event, but first of all – an educational one. It gives our
    audience a chance for active participation and being a part of the
    creation of Jewish culture.

    The 7th Misteria Paschalia Festival
    29 March - 5 April 2010
    he first edition of the Misteria Paschalia festival took place in 2004; since its inauguration, it has presented music linked thematically with the period of Holy Week and the Easter Holidays. The popularity of the Misteria Paschalia Festival is attested to by the interest of music lovers. The audience begun the storm for tickets to the 6th editio... six months before the event.

    Museum Night
    7th edition: 14/15 May 2010
    The first Museum Night was organised in Krakow in 2004, following the example of the Berlin “Lange Nacht der Museen”. The idea behind it is to make museums available to the public on a chosen night in May – it’s already been a tradition to organise the Museum Night in the middle of May on a Friday/Saturday night. Every year the programme evolves around a central idea, such as “The Past of the Future” (2006), “90th Anniversary of Poland’s Regaining Independence” (2008) or “Krakow Museums of the 21st Century” (2009)

    Jazz Night
    17/18 July 2010
    The event was inaugurated on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of Krakow’s Act of Location. From the very beginning it focused on presenting various European jazz genres in order to familiarise the audience with the latest developments in free jazz as performed by leading artists in Europe and the world.

    Theatre Night
    4th edition: 18/19 June 2010.
    Organised since 2007, following on from the example of Museum Night, Theatre Night aims to stimulate acting circles and encourage the public to explore various theatrical forms. Its programme includes the presentation of the most interesting performances of the season; dance theatres and street shows, as well as theatre workshops and meetings with actors. It also makes backstage areas and dressing rooms that are usually inaccessible open to the public. There are many non-verbal performances, which makes it easier for foreign visitors to approach and interpret them.

    Cracovia Sacra Night
    The first Cracovia Sacra Night took place in 2008 on Assumption Day (15th August). It is part of a series of night explorations of Krakow focusing on the city’s religious phenomenon. On this night some of the most beautiful churches, as well as monasteries and convents in Krakow and its surroundings that are usually inaccessible, are opened to the general public, making it possible for them to discover church monuments, treasures and the arcana of monastic life.

    The International Street Theatre Festival
    The International Festival of Street Theatre in Krakow has a well-established tradition as it is one of the oldest events of this type organized annually in Central Europe. Performances take place at the largest old town market square.

    The International Film Festival ‘Etiuda& Anima’
    The festival aims to popularize various forms of short film, especially animation, and to promote the achievement of the youngest generation of artists. The two main festiwal events are international competitions of students etudes of the world and short animations: professional, students’ and intependent.

    The Festival of Polish Music
    The festival’s program and the choice of performermers is the source of its originality and its distinguishing mark among other music events. Its reportoire consists in only Polish comositions and the performers are both famous Polish artists and foreign guests. So far, among the invited guests have been Kronos Quartet and Nigel Kennedy. In the past, the festival also hosted famous Polish composers. One of its highlights is the vocal master class by professor Helena Łazarska.

    The All Souls Jazz Festival in Krakow
    Very likely Krakow's All Souls Jazz Festival, known in Poland as Krakowskie Zaduszki Jazzowe is Europe's oldest jazz festival. It has attracted both Polish and foreign jazzmen as well as jazz fans every year in early November for over half century. Music has been changing in keeping with current trends, also venues and performers, but some features remain constant. One is stylistic diversity, another the tradition of a jazz Holy Mass that takes place in one of Krakow's ancient churches on the All Souls Day, November 2, or one of the following evenings.

    Wianki/ St. John’s Night

    An ancient festival that dates back to Pagan times, Wianki literally means 'wreaths' and it is a traditional midsummer celebration that remembers St John. Polish girls wear wreaths of flowers with a lighted candle in the centre and then throw them into the Visitula River. According to folklore, if the wreath comes back to shore, the girl will never marry, if it sinks, she will die young and if it flows down the river, she will be married and be happy. Thankfully, it is a fast flowing river and most girls go away happy. There is also live music and a fireworks display.

    Cracow Jazz Fall
    This is a relatively young festival on the cultural map of Poland but the four seasons it has enjoyed so far have made it into a well- respected and much-praised event. Described as ‘fully blown jazz revolution, with absolutely top masters of improvised musicians from all over the world and three months full of the highest world class improvised jazz rhythms’. Music critics are in agreement that Krakow Jazz Fall is one of the most important jazz events of the last few years.

    The Sacrum Profanum Festival
    One of the most interesting cyclical Autumn music events. The festival presents masterpieces of contemporary instrumental and vocal- instrumental music. Various places are arranged especially for the requirements of the festival, such as Krakow Philharmonic but also the Museum of City Engineering and other postindustrial halls of Nowa Huta steelworks.
