Capoeira is an unusual combination of dance and martial arts. It was first performed by African slaves in the state of Bahia in Brazil in the 1800s. This original art form is the creation of the slave culture that once existed in Brazil.

The practice of slavery is long gone, but capoeira still exists. In recent times, some social workers in Brazil have started using this unusual sport to help in educational and social development. This practice has become especially popular- and successful- with children and teenagers. An organisation called "Project Axe" is leading the way in showing how capoeira can help young people...
